KANSAS CITY (January 6, 2021) – The Kansas City Comets announced today that the team has signed forward, Felipe Abreu to a one-year contract. Per team and league policies, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

The Brazilian born attacker played collegiately at Mid America Nazarene University in Olathe, KS, and played for a National Championship all four years. After a successful college career, Abreu played for the Santa Fe Wanderers, a semi-professional team based in Kansas City during its one season with the United Premier Soccer League. Currently, Abreu is an assistant coach for the Avila University men’s soccer team.

“I am really excited for the opportunity to play for the Comets,” said Abreu. “It has been a thrill learning from the veterans like Coach Gibson, John Sosa and Coach Stokic. The older guys do such an incredible job of giving us younger guys confidence while helping us be the best players we can be.”

“Felipe is just getting his feet wet, said Comets Managing Partner, Brian Budzinski. “ We look for his game to continue to grow as he gets more familiar with the indoor game.”
