2021-22 SEASON SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED
KANSAS CITY (October 5, 2021) – The Major Arena Soccer League officially announced this morning the schedules for all 12 teams participating in the 2021-22 season. The league will be broken into three divisions: East (Baltimore, Harrisburg, Utica and Florida), West (Chihuahua, Ontario, San Diego and Tacoma) and Central (Dallas, Kansas City, Milwaukee and St. Louis). The league will announce the playoff format at a later date, along with a new standings format that will be a points-based system, similar to other indoor sports leagues.
The Comets will play a 24-game regular season (12 home and 12 away) plus play two games in the Preseason Central Cup Tournament that includes the St. Louis Ambush along with the Wichita Wings and Omaha Kings FC of the MASL2. The Comets will host the Wings on Friday, November 12th in game one of the Central Cup, then travel to St. Louis for game two at the Family Arena in St. Charles, MO, to face the Omaha Kings FC.
The Comets will open their regular season on the road in St. Louis on Friday, Nov. 26th, then return home the next day to face the Ambush again on Saturday the 27th at Cable Dahmer Arena. These two games will serve as the official kickoff to the 2021-22 MASL regular season.
Aside from the team’s Central Division foes, the Comets will also host the Baltimore Blast, Tacoma Stars and Chihuahua Savage. Road games of note include a battle against returning Ron Newman Cup Champions, San Diego Sockers and Ron Newman Cup runners-up, the Ontario Fury, plus an away match against the Tacoma Stars.
All season long, the team will be celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Comets’ arrival in Kansas City along with the 30th anniversary of the Kansas City Attack, highlighted by special retro throwback games, retro uniforms and other festivities. Aside from the anniversary promotions, the Comets’ annual Pink Game, benefiting The Ali Kemp Educational Foundation, Military Appreciation Game, benefiting Team Fidelis, and the Comets Mascot Game will all be returning this season.
“We are excited about the schedule and the challenge ahead of us,” said Comets Managing Partner, Brian Budzinski. “I know the team is ready to get back to work and bring a championship back to Kansas City.
