Veteran one of three players announced for roster

KANSAS CITY (October 30, 2017) – The Kansas City Comets today announced agreements with three more players ahead of the upcoming season, headlined by veteran Stefan Stokic. Former Richmond Kickers forward Anthony Grant and Rookie goalkeeper Casey Gasson were also added to the team’s opening day roster. Per team and league policies, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

Stokic was one of the original players signed to the Comets in 2010. He has been an invaluable member of the team since the beginning. He has made 124 appearances with the club, tallying 51 points (19 goals, 22 assists) along the way.

“Every team needs a Stefan (Stokic),” said head coach Kim Roentved. “He’s not afraid to throw his body in front of a shot, dive for a header or body up with any player on defense. He plays anywhere on the field we ask him to and he is a leader a lot of our younger players can look up to.”

Joining him on the roster will be Anthony Grant. Grant has experience playing arena soccer, having spent some time with the Syracuse Silver Knights in 2014-2015 season. He scored 12 goals that year for the Knights in only 14 appearances. Since then, the Jamaican forward has played for the Richmond Kickers of the USL. Last season he made 15 appearances for the club, getting four starts.

Casey Gasson also comes to the team with arena soccer experience, having played for the Colorado Blizzard of the Premier Arena Soccer League last season. Gasson has spent time with the U.S. National Arena Soccer Team and was on the squad that most recently competed for the World Mini-Futbol World Cup in Tunisia.

The Kansas City Comets season is set to open this Saturday, November 4th as they take on their cross-state rivals the St. Louis Ambush. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CT and tickets are still available here.
