Kansas City Comets

Veteran Midfielder among three signed to team today

KANSAS CITY (November 30, 2017) – The Kansas City Comets today welcomed back fan favorite, Milan Ivanovic. He is one of three players announced by the team ahead of their two-game weekend against the Milwaukee Wave and the Cedar Rapids Rampage. Joining him on the roster are a pair of rookies from FC Wichita of the National Premier Soccer League, defender James Togbah and goalkeeper Steven Hamersky. Per team and league policies, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

Ivanovic originally signed with the Comets prior to the 2012-2013 season. He tallied 21 goals and 9 assists before announcing his retirement midway through last season so he could return home to Serbia. While there he established a top-notch soccer youth training program and has now returned to Kansas City to return to his playing career and expand his youth soccer program. In addition to his playing duties for the Comets, Ivanovic will also be the Director of Camps for the team.

“I’m happy to be back in Kansas City,” said Ivanovic. “I loved being home, but this place is home too. I’m excited to play for Kim (Roentved) again and to help the Comets and the young soccer players from across the metro.”

Togbah and Hamersky have played the past few seasons for former Comets player and current FC Wichita assistant coach, Jamie Harding. Both players bring depth to the Comets roster and are expected to be available for selection this weekend.

The Comets play in Milwaukee on Friday night at 7:05 p.m. CT before returning home to host the Cedar Rapids Rampage on Sunday evening at 5:05 p.m. CT. Tickets for that match can be purchase here.
