Kansas City Comets

Team heads to St Louis for third meeting this season

KANSAS CITY (February 3, 2018) – The Kansas City Comets play a home-and-home series against the St Louis Ambush over the next two weekends. This week, the schedule puts the team on the road to face their cross-state rivals at Family Arena on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. CT.

GAME NOTES – Comets vs Ambush

The Comets have traditionally owned this series, with a 16-1 overall record against the Ambush. Kansas City has outscored St Louis 167-85, or 10-5 per game on average.

This season has not been as one-sided as in the past. In the teams’ season-opener on November 4th, the Ambush went into halftime with a 4-3 lead before the Comets were able to put together 7 second-half goals to win 10-8. On January 6, the Ambush opened up a 6-0 lead in the first quarter. Kansas City’s Kiel Williams scored five goals after that to lead the Comets to an eventual 11-9 victory in that one.

Both teams come into Saturday’s match looking to snap a three-game losing streak. The Comets lost a tough battle to the Cedar Rapids Rampage last weekend and need a win to keep alive any hopes of earning their eighth straight invitation to the playoffs.

St. Louis has been eliminated from postseason already, but head coach Hewerton continues to improve his team. The Ambush have doubled their win-total from last year and are only a few bad bounces away from being in contention.

Kickoff for Saturday’s match is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CT. Fans in Kansas City can watch online here.
