Kansas City Comets

Team hopes to maintain momentum from win last weekend.

KANSAS CITY (January 12, 2018) – The Kansas City Comets return home for the first time in the New Year, after playing on the road last weekend in St. Louis. The team’s opponent, the Harrisburg Heat, is also playing their second game in 2018, but both of theirs have been on the road.

GAME NOTES – Kansas City Comets vs Harrisburg Heat

The Comets hope to continue what they started in the final three quarters last week against the Ambush. Kansas City found themselves down 6-1 after a rough first quarter. Behind five goals from forward Kiel Williams and five assists from forward Leo Gibson, the team scored ten goals from the 2nd through the 4th quarters to complete their largest comeback win of the season.

Harrisburg travelled to Baltimore’s SECU Arena for an Eastern Division match last weekend. The Heat took the game to overtime, but ultimately lost the match after the Blast’s Andrew Hoxie scored the game-winning goal in the extra period.

Controversy occurred in regulation however as the Heat thought they scored a goal that would have won the game for them. Unfortunately, the ball bounced out so fast that the referees were not able to determine if the ball crossed the line or not and the goal did not count.

The Comets will also be honoring the U.S. Armed Forces this weekend with their Military Appreciation game, sponsored by Glad. The team will be wearing special patriotic-themed jerseys that will be auctioned off throughout the game to benefit the Cars 4 Heroes program. Cars 4 Heroes will be in attendance and will be presenting one deserving veteran a car at halftime.

Kickoff for Glad Military Appreciation Night is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CT at the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena. Tickets are still available here. The game will also be streamed live at KCComets.com/live-feed and MASL.tv
