Kansas City Comets

KANSAS CITY (January 5, 2018) – The Kansas City Comets travel down I-70 for the second matchup this season with their cross-state rivals, the St. Louis Ambush. The Comets won the first battle 10-8 on Opening Day. In that game, Kansas City scored seven second half goals to overcome a halftime deficit and take home their first win of the season.

This game pits two teams who are still in the beginning stages of renewal. The Comets feature a relatively young roster with a new head coach and a few strong leaders on the field. The results have not gone the way the team would have wanted, but each game brings new lessons and growth.

Guerrero Pino and Nacho Flores, two players who started their careers last season, have served as valuable bridges between the veterans and rookies this season. While still learning some of the ins and outs of the arena game, each has been able to counsel the rookies about the rigors of a long season.

Their value extends to the field as well. Currently Flores is third on the team in goals (7), assists (7) and points (14). Pino is not too far behind him with four goals and seven points of his own.

The Ambush are under the leadership of coach Hewerton for the first time and have taken to his leadership and style of play. The Brazilian also suits up on gamedays to lead the team on the field. He currently sits atop the Ambush leaderboard with 17 points.

Kickoff from Family Arena in St. Charles, MO is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CT. The game can be seen live on MASLtv or at KCComets.com/live-feed.
