KANSAS CITY COMETS SEEK PAYBACK IN IOWA

Comets set to face Cedar Rapids Rampage for second straight week

KANSAS CITY (December 15, 2017) – The Kansas City Comets are on the road against the Cedar Rapids Rampage for the second consecutive week. After a strong week of practice, the team heads north rested and prepared for their Central Division Rivals. The game kicks off at 7:05 p.m. CT and will be streamed online at KCComets.com/live-feed or MASL.tv. Fans are also encouraged to join the Comets Nation Watch Party at Coach’s Bar & Grill in Overland Park, KS.

The Comets played the Rampage on the back half of a two-day, two-city doubleheader weekend last Saturday. Although they had won a big match the night before, Kansas City was never able to get any momentum in their 10-4 loss.

Head Coach Kim Roentved is optimistic about his team’s return this weekend though.

“We had a great week of training. The boys have stepped for those who are missing and some of the younger guys are growing into the roles we need them play to be successful.”

Kansas City will be without veteran defender Stefan Stokic for only the second time since 2015. The team announced earlier this week that Stokic suffered an ACL tear that will keep him sidelined the rest of the season. The Comets signed Cody Hoffman this week to help defend the back line.

Hoffman and the Comets defense will be zoned in on stopping Rampage forward Victor France. In three games against Kansas City (including one game with the St Louis Ambush) France has scored nine goals.

Offensively, the Comets are led by veteran Leo Gibson and second-year player Ignacio ‘Nacho’ Flores. They lead the team in scoring with 17 and 11 points respectively. Gibson’s 11 assists are second in the Major Arena Soccer League and his 2.83 points per game rank 2nd.
